Call Center Manager - Norfolk
ForKids is looking for a full-time Call Center Manager to manage the ForKids Call Center. The Call Center Manager coordinates the staffing and day-to-day operation of the Call Center, supervising all off-site staff. Conducts initial telephone screenings with callers seeking agency assistance, providing agency information, handling requests for shelter, conducting intake assessments, and connecting callers with the appropriate internal or external resources. Assures that data collected from callers and clients is thoroughly and accurately reported in a timely manner according to established standards and deadlines. Oversees the distribution of Emergency Overnight clients with all shelters within Norfolk. Attends the Central Intake meetings on a monthly basis. Performs other duties as assigned.
Location: This position works out of our Norfolk office.
Hours: Works five day shifts (8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.) per workweek (M-F), or as assigned.
Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in social work, human services, or associated field. Must have a minimum of two years of crisis counseling and/or homeless shelter or other relevant work experience.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to effectively supervise other employees.
- Considerable knowledge of social, economic and health problems as they related to homeless families.
- Ability to be objective and calm in a stressful environment.
- Knowledge of community and social agencies and resources.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work with a diverse population.
- Ability to make sound judgments within the framework of existing policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of the use of personal computers and standard office software.
- Ability to accurately track and report data.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with consumers, co-workers and with representatives of other agencies and programs.
- Ability to work regular evening hours as scheduled.
Over the past 23 years, ForKids has helped more than 1,200 families and 2,750 children to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty. Our successful programs focus on self-sufficiency; last year 86% of families exiting our six residential programs obtained housing and 94% of our children advanced to the next grade. ForKids serves 200 families with 400 children weekly throughout Hampton Roads and Western Tidewater.
