Transitional Housing
Elizabeth Place
In February 2005 we opened Elizabeth Place to provide five new short-term Transitional Housing where families can stay for 3-6 months. Named after founding Executive Director Elizabeth Brickhouse, the program allows us to serve approximately 25% more families each year and to better meet the needs of our client families.

L to R: ForKids Executive Director Thaler McCormick, Founding Executive Director (and namesake) Elizabeth Brickhouse, Norfolk Mayor Paul Fraim and ForKids Board Member Wendy McGrady formally dedicate Elizabeth Place.
Rebecca's Reading Room, which is housed at Elizabeth Place, features handpainted murals, a stage and books of all kinds. The project was funded through the Rebecca Burlingame Memorial Fund.
Rebecca's Reading Room is a place where children at ForKids can
read, paint, sing, put on plays and do all of the things that are a part
of
every child's life.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Burlingame family
for making this wonderful project possible for the children at ForKids!
