Want to get in on the fun, but you don't want to run? Pick out your favorite costume and volunteer to help J&A Racing and ForKids pull off a spectacular event! We need 375 volunteers, so make sure to tell your friends and your friends' friends. Supply Drives
The majority of the household products and supplies our families use are donated by community members like you. Click one of the links below for details about supply drives.
Ongoing Volunteer Needs

- Tutors
- Volunteers with strong academic backgrounds or prior tutoring experience needed.
- Chesapeake Hot Meals and Homework: 2-3 additional volunteers to assist at the Cuffee Center in Chesapeake from 5:30 – 7:30 pm
- Morgan Place: 2 tutors from 4 – 6 pm on Mondays and Thursdays
- Elizabeth Place: 1 tutor from 4 – 6 pm on Tuesday
- Suffolk House: 3 tutors from 3-5 pm on Monday - Thursday
- Budgeting instructors and education instructors - We are seeking teachers to offer life skills and/or expressive classes for the adults in our program. Life Skills courses include topics such as stress relief, budgeting, parenting tips, and health & wellness. Expressive classes for adults include but are not limited to: collage making, yoga, beginning knitting, book and poetry writing.
- Baby hugging - Hold and coddle babies while parents attend required adult education courses. Volunteers needed at Haven House on Mondays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.
- Donation sorting - Our families earn vouchers for reaching certain milestones and completing chores around the house. They can then use these vouchers to purchase items that are donated to ForKids. We desperately need help to sort and display our inventory of in-kind items so our families can purchase the items they need.
- Drivers for donation pickup - Sometimes people can't bring items to us because they don't have a large enough vehicle. ForKids doesn't have one either, so if you've got a truck, we need your help!
